Attendance at Thalassemia International Federation (TIF) Conference in Greece
TIF’s International Conference constitutes the biggest educational event in the field of hemoglobin disorders organized on a global scale and comprised of two parallel Conferences, namely the 14th International Conference on Thalassemia and Other Haemoglobinopathies & 16th TIF Conference for Patients and Parents and was held in Greece last month. This conference was attended by over 2,000 participants, including health professionals, medical specialists, nurses, scientists, researchers, patients/parents, from over 60 countries around the world.
The TIF Conference provides a unique forum for discussion covering the latest advances in research and overviews on prevention, management, other healthcare issues and current regional, European and international policies directly or indirectly relevant to hemoglobinopathies. We were proud to sponsor a dinner which was well attended by both Faculty and Board members. Dr. Steven Spitalnik presented during the dinner on the effects of oxidative damage of red cells during storage and provided the latest data on G6PD donors. Hemanext was asked to present on the role of the Hemanext RBC Processing System in mitigating the effects of oxidative damage during the faculty dinner and during an oral session which generated much interest from the Thalassemia community.
